Week 2 - Misinformation Assignment - Jordan Renville

One very recent example of disinformation came two weeks ago on August 21, when Reggie Chaney, former University of Houston basketball player, passed away from what was seemingly a Hert attack. For anyone following the news, a similar incident happened just a few weeks ago with USC’s own Brony James. After suffering cardiac arrest, many left-wing critics took this opportunity to blame Bronny’s sudden illness on the infamous COVID-19 vaccine. With this most recent news about Reggie Chaney, these same people are able to spin the narrative and blame his death on the vaccine aswell.

To be yet, another one of the #vaccinedeaths and #Vaccineinjuries that we are seeing so frequently? #BrayWyatt #Bronny #JamieFoxx #TaylorHawkins #LillyKimbell… https://t.co/gCvnQPc2HZ" / X (twitter.com)

Another example, this time of misinformation, comes from Hurricane Hillary, which hit LA about two weeks ago. People took the incident very seriously from the moment the hurricane was spotted. Since no one knew the extent of the possible, people continued to brace for the worst without actually checking to see the extent of the storm. Because of this breakdown inaccurate information, people started to inflate the severity of the hurricane and even went as far as to post fake clips of “damages from the storm. As we know, while Hurricane Hillary caused various damages, it did not have the profound impact on the city that we thought.
